In many aspects EuMW2008 was a great success, it attracted 1577 participants from all over the world, an all-time high in the history of the European Microwave week. The workshops were also very successful. For example, the joint EuMC/EuMIC workshop on Reconfigurable RF Systems, organized by Rik Jos from NXP and Herbert Zirath from Chalmers University, had 79 participants - an attendance never observed before at an EuMW workshop.
- EuMW2008 was held from 27th to 31st October 2008 at the RAI Congress Centre in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
- EuMW2008 covered 4 conferences (EuMC, EuMIC, EuWiT and EuRAD), 18 dedicated workshops and short courses and 21 workshops and tutorials by the exhibitors.
- Four side events were organized in parallel to the regular program: the Student Challenge, IQPC’s co-located Military Radar Symposium, a Women in Engineering event and a Bridging Gaps Symposium.
- Almost 16000 printed copies of the Call for Papers were circulated, approximately 200000 mails were sent out to promote the CfP
- The submitted number of preliminary papers equalled 1080
- The TPC’s accepted 530 high quality papers that were presented in 108 paper sessions, in addition 195 posters were presented in 6 poster sessions including a session with 12 interactive posters;
- 16 key note presentations were held by invited speakers from all over the world.
- On Tuesday afternoon the delegates could choose out of 13 different oral events at the same time (excluding the exhibition)!
- The conferences and the workshops of EuMW2008 attracted 1577 unique participants from all over the world, with a total of 2718 registrations for Conferences, Workshops, and Short Courses.
- The exhibition halls with 7900 m2 available floor space were fully loaded with 210 exhibitors with 2341 m2 booth area.
- The total traffic to the conferences, the workshops and the exhibition exceeded 3600.
- Two major awards were presented during the Grand Opening
- 4 Conference prizes, 5 Young Engineer prizes, 3 GAAS Association Fellowships, 1 best Innovation Poster Award, 2 winners of the Student Challenge and the Agilent Technologies’ University Innovation Award 2008 were awarded during EuMW2008.
