Scenario
- Research on bioelectromagnetic (BEM) interactions and the applications of the consequent results are attracting more and more attention both from the scientific communities and from the industrial players
- Microwave theory and techniques are extremely important for bioelectromagnetics, biomedical engineering and the relevant technologies
- In EuMA, a good number of high-profile researchers active in these fields is present
Motivations and Goals
The TG on "Biological and Medical Applications of Electromagnetic Fields", represents the natural site where EuMA members can gather and discuss. TG's main goals:
- Bridging the gap between the community of BioEM researchers and RF/MW Engineering is one of the key motivations
- To setup a network facilitating contact between BEM students, in particular PhD students
- Along with the stimulation of research and discussions in the related subjects, the TG is intended to activate a continuous discussion with the most important players at industrial and institutional levels (EU relevant committees and commissions, for instance), so to enhance EuMA actions in Framework Programs and European steering actions
In Evidence
This section enlists open and/or ongoing calls for funded research projects:
- COST actions:
- CA COST Action CA17115 - European network for advancing Electromagnetic hyperthermic medical technologies
- BMBS Cost Action BM1309 - European network for innovative uses of EMFs in biomedical applications (EMF-MED)
- CORBEL open calls
- EMERALD - ElectroMagnetic imaging for a novel genERation of medicAL Devicies
- SPARC program - Stimulating Perpheral Activity to Relieve Conditions
- CUPIDO Project: electromagnetic-mediated guidance of nanoparticles to the heart
- SUMCASTEC: Semiconductor-based Ultrawideband Micromanipulation of CAncer STEm Cells
- eAXON: Electronic AXONs: wireless microstimulators based on electronic rectification of epiermically applied currents
Membership
All EuMA members with a valid subscription can join the TG on Biological and Medical Applications of Electromagnetic Fields at no additional costs.
