EuMA Statement on Suspension of Russia and Belarus - Representation

The European Microwave Association, aware of its implication and responsibility in a globally connected world, protests against the brutal war initiated by Russian policymakers and their military forces in Ukraine. In horror facing the atrocities inflicted on the Ukrainian people, in solidarity with its Ukrainian fellow researchers and their families, in sadness for hurting invaluable ties to those peaceful enlightened scientists who are now intimidated inside the Russian federation, the General Assembly of the European Microwave Association, in its first decision-making sitting since the pandemic, has decided to suspend the membership of Russia and Belarus in its organization and activities.

In its endeavour to the peaceful pursue of science, the European Microwave Association is embracing an inclusive philosophy of an equal and global mankind, seeking to advance societies and to protect our planet through the advances of microwave technology. The European Microwave Association is a purely scientific body, but its members are fully aware of their societal responsibilities and the need to defend their values, and are therefore taking this painful step as a determined expression of their opposition to the military conflict in Ukraine.

The European Microwave Association will continue its actions of support to the Ukrainian people and strengthen its initiatives to assist its fellow Ukrainian researchers, students, and engineers.
