Penta-band microstrip patch antenna with small frequency ratios using metamaterial for wireless applications
Praveen Chaurasia, Binod Kumar Kanaujia, Santanu Dwari, Mukesh Kumar Khandelwal
A novel shape penta-band microstrip patch antenna is presented in this paper. The proposed antenna shows five operating frequencies and can be used for various wireless applications, i.e. 2.58 GHz for non-direct line of sight, wireless Internet service providers, and compatible with Navini Networks; 3.17 and 3.42 GHz for WiMAX; 4 GHz for C-band application such as weather radar systems; and 5.3 GH
A compact planar circularly polarized eighth-mode substrate integrated waveguide antenna
Ni Wang, Xiaowen Xu
A compact and planar broadband circularly polarized (CP) eighth-mode substrate integrated waveguide (EMSIW) antenna is proposed in this paper. An isosceles right triangular waveguide with one electric sidewall (located on one of its catheti) and two magnetic sidewalls (located on the other two edges of the triangle) is presented to investigate the characteristics of the EMSIW. The closed-form mode
A miniaturized UWB-MIMO antenna with quadruple band-notched characteristics
Ling Wu, Yingqing Xia, Xia Cao, Zhengtao Xu
A simple multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) antenna with quad-band-notched characteristics for ultra-wideband (UWB) system is proposed and tested in the article. Based on two similar radiators, the UWB-MIMO system only occupies 22 mm × 28 mm. By etching an inverted L-like meander slot, two inverted L-shaped slots, and adding a C-shaped stub beside the feeding line, four notched bands are realiz
Increasing the bandwidth of cavity-backed SIW antennas by using stacked cavities
Hiba Abdel Ali, Enrico Massoni, Lorenzo Silvestri, Maurizio Bozzi, Luca Perregrini, Ali Gharsallah
This paper presents a technique to increase the bandwidth in substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) cavity-backed antennas, inspired by the design of cavity filters. The proposed structure consists of a slot antenna backed by two cavities, located one on top of the other and coupled through a slot. To demonstrate the bandwidth increase, a standard cavity-backed SIW antenna, with a rectangular slot e

Parylene coated waterproof washable inkjet-printed dual-band antenna on paper substrate
Sangkil Kim, Manos M. Tentzeris
In this paper, the first reported waterproof inkjet-printed dual-band monopole antenna on the flexible organic paper substrate is presented. The antenna, which operates at 900 MHz and 2.4 GHz, is inkjet-printed on commercially available photopaper using conductive silver nano-particle ink. To protect it from ambient humidity, a 1 µm thick Parylene-C layer was deposited on top of the antenna. To ve
Closed-form model to determine the co-axial probe reactance of an equilateral triangular patch antenna
Manotosh Biswas, Mihir Dam
A simple closed-form analytical formula is proposed to compute the probe reactance of an equilateral triangular patch antenna. The variation of the probe reactance with the variation of antenna dimension, substrate electrical parameters, and probe location is examined thoroughly. The computed values employing the present model show excellent agreement with experimental and simulation results.
Radio bearing of sources with directional antennas in urban environment
Cezary Zió?kowski, Jan M. Kelner
This paper focuses on assessing the limitations in the direction-finding process of radio sources with directional antennas in an urbanized environment, demonstrating how signal source antenna parameters, such as beamwidth and maximum radiation direction affect bearing accuracy in non-line-of-sight conditions. These evaluations are based on simulation studies, which use measurement-tested signal p
