Band-pass filtering Gysel power divider with inherent DC-block function and high all-frequency isolation
Yongle Wu, Lingxiao Jiao, Jiayu Wang, Weimin Wang, Yuanan Liu
A novel small-size filtering power divider (PD) featured four-function integration is proposed. These four integrated functions are high-selectivity filtering, inherent DC block, high all-frequency isolation, and high-power applications. Using single-layer planar circuit technology, this proposed PD can be implemented easily. The measured results of a prototype show that it can operate at 2 GHz wi
Using intrinsic zero to notch satellite signals in UWB filter
Yang Xiong, Cheng Teng, Ming He, Kam-Weng Tam, Xian Yu, Wai-Wa Choi, Hai Hua Chen
In this paper, an ultra-wideband (UWB) filter with a notch band using T-shaped step impedance resonator loaded with cross-shaped open stubs has been presented. The notch band is formed by utilizing intrinsic zero. The characteristics of the new quad-mode resonator have been analyzed using odd-even mode analysis method. It can be shown that it is the intrinsic zero that generates the notch band. In
Compact multi frequency strip loaded microstrip patch antenna with spur-lines
Avisankar Roy, Sunandan Bhunia, Debasree Chanda Sarkar, Partha Pratim Sarkar, Santosh Kumar Chowdhury
In this paper a new design of compact single layered triangular slotted microstrip patch antenna with spur lines and strip loading is proposed. It has been experimentally investigated that strip loading causes more size reduction where spur lines and triangular slot introduces multi frequency operation of microstrip patch antenna. The size reduction has been found to be 87% for the proposed antenn
Microwave dielectric stepped-index flat lens antenna
Hernan Barba Molina, Jan Hesselbarth
Dielectric stepped-index flat lens antennas for operation at 12 GHz are presented. A brick-shaped dielectric with a permittivity profile optimized for focusing is sandwiched between the metallic plates of an open-ended parallel-plate waveguide. A tapered slot antenna is placed at the focal point of the dielectric lens, thereby creating antennas with high directivity of 16.8 and 15.8 dBi, respectiv
Effects of bi-isotropic coatings and bi-isotropic background media upon gain characteristics of an axially slotted cylinder
Z. A. Awan
An analysis about the effects of various bi-isotropic (BI) coatings and BI background media upon the gain characteristics of an axially slotted cylinder using numerical simulations is presented. It is investigated that chirality and Tellegen parameters of a coating and a background medium play a significant role in modifying the gain properties. It is further studied that an axially slotted cylind
Miniaturized bandpass filter using dual-mode hexagonal loop resonator
Kaijun Song, Yu Zhu, Minghua Zhao, Maoyu Fan, Yong Fan
A novel miniaturized dual-mode bandpass filter (BPF) using hexagonal loop resonator is presented. In order to reduce the circuit size, capacitive loading structure is applied to enhance the self-capacitance and electrical length of the hexagonal loop resonator. The frequency selectivity and out-of-band rejection of the proposed BPF can be improved by the two inherent transmission zeros in each sid
2.45-GHz wideband harmonic rejection rectenna for wireless power transfer
Zhanyu Kang, Xianqi Lin, Cong Tang, Peng Mei, Wangmao Liu, Yong Fan
In this paper, a 2.45-GHz wideband harmonic rejection rectenna for wireless power transfer is proposed. The rectenna comprises a microstrip-fed circular ring slot antenna (CRSA) and a series-parallel rectifier (SPR). A compact micro strip resonant cell is inserted into the CRSA so that the harmonic suppression over a wide bandwidth (3?8 GHz) can be obtained. The radio-frequency (RF)?DC conversion
Band-stop filter with suppression of requested number of spurious stopbands
Dusan A. Nesic, Branko M. Kolundzija
Design method for band-stop filters (BSFs) that suppress a requested number of spurious bandstops and reduce ripples in the passbands below ~1 dB is proposed. BSF is designed in a form of a cascade of cells, each consisting of steps of equal electrical length, where the number of steps is used to control the number of suppressed spurious bandstops. Analytical formulas are developed that enable ini
Electromagnetic and small-signal modeling of an encapsulated RF-MEMS switch for D-band applications
Selin Tolunay Wipf, Alexander Göritz, Matthias Wietstruck, Christian Wipf, Bernd Tillack, Andreas Mai, Mehmet Kaynak
In this work, an electromagnetic (EM) model and a small-signal (lumped-element) model of a wafer-level encapsulated (WLE) radio frequency microelectromechanical systems (RF-MEMS) switch is presented. The EM model of the WLE RF-MEMS switch is developed to estimate its RF performance. After the fabrication of the switch, the EM model is used to get accurate S-parameter simulation results. Alternativ
Multi-Octave bandwidth, 100 W GaN power amplifier using planar transmission line transformer
Mhd Tareq Arnous, Zihui Zhang, Felix Rautschke, Georg Boeck
In this paper, design, implementation, and experimental results of efficient, high-power, and multi-octave gallium nitride-high electron mobility transistor power amplifier are presented. To overcome the low optima source/load impedances of a large transistor, various topologies of a broadside-coupled impedance transformer are simulated, implemented, and measured. The used transformer has a flat m
